Awhile ago I reported on the Winter 2010 opening of the Jazz N Soul Cafe in Historic Anacostia (2020 Shannon Place SE). Today, Eric Whitehead, the owner of the establishment sent out an email explaining a much longer, more indefinate deferred opening. An excerpt of that email is included below:
To all of our Music Lovers, friends and family:
It has been a very long time since I sent out any information on The JazzNSoul Cafe. For this I apologize. I receive emails and calls almost daily asking if we are open. I simply say, NOT YET. My dream, my vision, has not been crushed, just deferred. The truth is, I believed that there were available funds in place to make this deal happen and they simply were not there. I am still, to this day, working on making The JazzNSoul Cafe a reality and bringing it to the great people of Anacostia, who sincerely deserve this type of venue. So stay tuned and stay positive. I am!!
I plan on following up with Four Points to determine if they plan on holding out and assisting Mr. Whitehead to make this happen, or if they have other plans for the building and will update you all accordingly. Stay tuned...
