If you aren't familiar with FLY (Facilitating Leadership in Youth) then you need to get with the program. Better yet, come check out their event this Saturday at American University!
Breakin' for Birney, the longest-running b-boy/b-girl jam in DC, is having its 11th anniversary this month. For the last 11 years hundreds of breakdancers, youth, and loads of other folks have descended on American University to see ridiculously-talented b-boys/b-girls rip up the dance floor.
Free for youth with a DCPS ID, otherwise $5 cover. All ages attend - great family event!
Music by DJ Skeme Richards of the Rock Steady Crew. Sponsored by Facilitating Leadership in Youth (FLY).
100% of the proceeds will benefit FLY (Facilitating Leadership in Youth), a youth leadership and development organization that works with young people from the Barry Farm neighborhood.

FLY is a community-based, youth-driven, nonprofit that takes a comprehensive, long-term youth development approach that consistently engages youth in year-round programming for 6-10 years. Beginning in elementary school, FLY youth gain access to educational, artistic, and leadership opportunities that develop their talents and nourish their dreams. Students are matched with volunteer mentors who empower them to be leaders and advocates.
What a fantastic program, and better yet, 93% of FLY's high school seniors are accepted into college....how fantastic is that?
So come out and support a great program for a great cause. See you Saturday!
