Should Barry Be Impeached?

Jonetta Rose Barras wrote an article for the Examiner today that called for Marion Barry's impeachment.  Do you agree?

If you read my blog, you know that I do.  Remember the letter I wrote to the DC Council back in July?  Chairman Gray's response. And then our continued conversation and follow-up.

Paul Craney, executive director of the D.C. Republican Party, thinks that "if this isn't something worth impeaching" than someone should "explain what is".  Quite frankly, I agree Mr. Craney.

I also agree whole-heartedly with David Catania, that "this era of Mr. Barry living above the law has got to come to an end".

And I think it's time that Chairman Vincent C. Gray and his colleagues need to step up and push for the emergency legislation that would amend the city's home rule charter to allow it to impeach any official found to have violated city ethics laws or to have been engaged in corrupt behavior.  Perhaps they don't want to pass this legislation, because they themselves might be held accountable for laws they themselves have violated, but this is just ridiculous.  Barras says it all when she summarizes that "Barry thinks he is above the law.  Impeaching him will prove he isn't."
