Yesterday I blogged about the progress of the Anacostia Streetcar. Today, I want to post some renderings that you may or may not have seen. These images were released in January 2007 as part of a "staff recommendation" from the National Capitol Planning Commission (NCPC). The map above was the five year draft plan that interestingly enough includes a route through Congress Heights. I believe it was commented that when DHS came to St. Elizabeth's that this might be another added bonus. I'm curious what Congress Heights thinks? You guys want the streetcar too?The renderings below give a conceptual look at how the streetcar could look along Firth Sterling and South Capitol. What do you think?

The pictures above are of the pylon options to mark the streetcar pick up points. Here's to hoping that whatever they do, it's clean, streamlined, and modern.
